VINTON, Va. (AP) — Authorities are investigating the death of a man whose pickup truck hit a Vinton police car.
Vinton police say a preliminary investigation indicates that the pickup’s driver might have suffered a medical problem before the accident occurred.
Police tell media outlets that officers discovered the driver was in cardiac arrest following the crash. He was pronounced dead at a local hospital.
The pickup hit the rear of the police car on Friday as officers were investigating an earlier accident. The officers weren’t injured.
The Roanoke County Police Department is investigating.
The name of the pickup’s driver hasn’t been released.
