SAN DIEGO (AP) — Yasiel Puig of the Los Angeles Dodgers is out of the starting lineup because manager Don Mattingly says the outfielder seems frustrated.
Says Mattingly: “I wouldn’t call it rest today. I think it’s probably more a frustration day. That’s what we’ve seen of him lately.”
Mattingly says Puig’s frustration, coupled with his 1-for-11 lifetime numbers against San Diego’s Andrew Cashner, led to the decision for Friday night’s game.
Puig is in an 0-for-16 slump.
