Sharks sign enforcer John Scott

SAN JOSE, Calif. (AP) — The San Jose Sharks have signed free-agent forward John Scott to a one-year, $700,000 contract.

San Jose also acquired forward Tye McGinn from Philadelphia on Wednesday for a third-round pick in next year’s draft.

The addition of Scott gives the Sharks another enforcer after re-signing Mike Brown last month. Scott has two goals and four assists in 236 career games for Minnesota, Chicago, Buffalo and the New York Rangers. He had 125 penalty minutes last year for the Sabres despite getting only 378:16 of ice time.

The 23-year-old McGinn had 20 goals and 15 assists in 54 games with Adirondack of the AHL last season. McGinn is the younger brother of former Sharks forward Jamie McGinn.
