Woman charged in connection to death of NY woman

NEW CITY, N.Y. (AP) — A woman has been arraigned on murder and conspiracy charges in connection with the fatal stabbing of an 80-year-old woman.

Andrea Benson, of Washington, D.C., is accused of beating Peggy Nadell, of Valley Cottage, on Jan. 25.

Court papers say she agreed to help with the killing in exchange for a payment from Nadell’s daughter-in-law, Diana Nadell, of Cutler Bay, Florida.

The complaint says Diana Nadell wanted some of her mother-in-law’s multimillion-dollar “marital inheritance.”

The Journal News (http://lohud.us/1o1sd5Z ) says Benson is being held without bail at the Rockland County jail. She’s due back in court on Friday.

Two other women also are charged in the case.

Peggy Nadell was a county Democratic committeewoman who was outspoken on environmental and women’s rights issues.
