BALTIMORE (AP) — A former Hagerstown dentist has struck a plea deal on federal drug charges.
The agreement averted a trial that had been set to begin this week in Baltimore for Vaqar Choudry of Germantown.
Court documents show that Choudry agreed Friday to plead guilty to one count of unlawfully distributing the prescription painkiller oxycodone.
In return, prosecutors agreed to dismiss a second drug count and a charge that Choudry tried to induce an underage girl to engage in sexual activity.
Choudry faces up to 20 years in prison at his sentencing in August.
He still faces charges in state court that he solicited a minor for sex and exposed himself in his dental office waiting room.
Choudry’s Maryland dental license was suspended last year.
