Waynesboro’s ‘Purple Cow’ landmark gets makeover

WAYNESBORO, Va. (AP) — Waynesboro’s “Purple Cow” has gotten a makeover.

The cow’s head received a new coat of purple paint and repairs on Saturday.

The Waynesboro landmark sits atop a post at the Waynesboro 340 North Campground. It used to be a symbol for a hamburger stand.

The campground now owns the cow’s head and the building that housed the hamburger stand. A manager for the campground, Vicky Moxie, tells The News-Virginian (http://bit.ly/1nsTJrS ) that they are working to restore the building, which her father constructed.
