Swimmer dies after being caught in riptide

OCEAN CITY, Md. (AP) — Officials in Ocean City say a swimmer has died after being caught in a rip current.

The Daily Times (http://delmarvane.ws/1oSlv4e ) reports the man was pronounced dead Monday evening at Atlantic General Hospital in Berlin. He had been pulled from the water earlier Monday by a team of 15 rescue swimmers.

Town spokeswoman Jessica Waters identified the man as 18-year-old Don Pen Soh Boma of Burtonsville.

Waters said three swimmers got caught in the riptide about 4:30 p.m. Monday near the 137th Street beach. The Ocean City Beach Patrol says one of its lifeguards was able to rescue two of the swimmers, but the third could not be immediately found. Boma was found after 5 p.m.
