NEW YORK (AP) — Stocks are opening mixed on Wall Street with little news to drive trading. Major indexes are headed for a slight weekly loss, their second this month.
The Dow Jones industrial average fell 18 points, or 0.1 percent, to 16,827 in the first few minutes of trading Friday.
The Standard & Poor’s 500 index fell one point to 1,956 and the Nasdaq composite rose one point to 4,381.
Eight of the 10 industry groups in the S&P 500 fell slightly, led by materials companies.
DuPont sank 3 percent, the biggest drop among the 30 big companies in the Dow. The company cut its profit forecast late Thursday.
Nike gained 1 percent after reporting earnings late Thursday that beat analysts’ expectations.
