The best way to spend Mother’s Day…

WASHINGTON — What do you appreciate about your mother?

Her “making sure my nails are trimmed and hair [is] cut,” says Cory Einsmann.

That made his mom burst into laughter.

“I just cut his hair this morning,” says Emma Tamonte. “He came home from [University of Virginia] last night with it looking like a mop.”

Talking outside Washington National Cathedral, the pair laughed about the haircut while snapping pictures of each other. Tamonte is cheerful because her son is home and they’re en route to Mother’s Day services together.

“Spending time together” was the top choice of women asked about the best Mother’s Day gifts.

According to a CBS News poll, 33 percent of woman prefer family time, a visit or a call.

Sixteen percent of women preferred flowers. Nine percent say they most appreciate getting thanks, respect and love.
