Lind comes off DL, Jenkins optioned to Triple-A

TORONTO (AP) — Blue Jays first baseman Adam Lind has been activated off the 15-day disabled list and will start against Philadelphia on Thursday night.

Right-hander Chad Jenkins has been optioned to Triple-A Buffalo to make room for Lind, who will bat sixth as the designated hitter against Phillies right-hander A.J. Burnett.

Lind has been out since April 15 with a sore lower back. He’s batting .324 with one home run and six RBIs in 13 games this season.

Jenkins has no record and a 9.00 ERA in three appearances with the Blue Jays this season. He has two saves and a 2.30 ERA in eight games at Triple-A.

Manager John Gibbons said Wednesday that one of Toronto’s three catchers would likely be sent down to clear a spot for Lind. But with starter Dioner Navarro nursing a sore right quadriceps, the Blue Jays decided to keep both Josh Thole and Erik Kratz on the roster.
