Hiker rescued after Sugarloaf Mountain fall

DICKERSON, Md. (AP) — Authorities say crews rescued an injured hiker who fell 25 feet from a cliff at Sugarloaf Mountain in Frederick County.

Montgomery County Fire and Rescue spokesman Pete Piringer says the hiker was conscious and breathing Tuesday evening as crews lifted him to safety on the steep terrain. He was then flown to Shock Trauma in Baltimore.

Montgomery County rescue personnel were called to assist at Sugarloaf, which is close to the border between the two counties.
