Germany coach Loew loses license for speeding

BERLIN (AP) — Germany coach Joachim Loew has lost his driver’s license for repeated speeding.

Loew acknowledges in a statement through the German soccer federation that he “unfortunately” drives too fast at times. He adds that he needs to “restrain himself” and promises to change his “driving behavior.”

The federation did not give the length of the ban. The daily Bild newspaper said it was for at least six months.

Germany team manager Oliver Bierhoff joked with German media that main sponsor Mercedes will be asked to provide Loew only with speed-restricted cars from now on.
