Dulin named new CEO of Independent Newsmedia Inc.

DOVER, Del. (AP) — The publisher of the Delaware State News has been named president and CEO of the newspaper’s parent company, Dover-based Independent Newsmedia Inc. USA.

The newspaper reported (http://bit.ly/1lV9aIL ) Sunday that Ed Dulin will succeed longtime CEO Joe Smyth on July 1.

Smyth, whose father launched the Delaware State News in 1953 as Dover’s first daily newspaper, will continue as board chairman of INI.

INI operates community newspapers and websites in Delaware, Maryland, Florida and Arizona, as well as printing companies in Arizona and Delaware.

The 63-year-old Dulin started his newspaper career 44 years ago in the delivery department of the Delaware State News and has remained with the company ever since.

Tom Byrd, who has led INI’s Florida group for 12 years, will succeed Dulin as Delaware State News publisher.
