Police: University of Maryland student touched inappropriately

WASHINGTON – A University of Maryland student says she was touched inappropriately while walking near campus Thursday night.

The woman told police she was walking along Baltimore Avenue near Chapel Field in College Park at about 9:45 p.m. when a man approached her and put his arms around her shoulders. When she pushed him away, he approached her again and grabbed her backside, authorities say.

The man fled the scene following the incident. The woman was not harmed, according to police.

Authorities had not released a description of the man.
