Olney man killed in wrong-way crash on I-95

WASHINGTON – An Olney, Md. man died early Sunday after he drove his Nissan Altima the wrong way on Interstate 95 and collided with tractor-trailer hauling 40,000 pounds of meat.

The 3:30 a.m. accident that killed Christian Allen Knight, 22, and shut down northbound I-95 north of the InterCounty Connector for more than three hours.

Knight was killed on impact, police said.

Maryland State Police Sgt. J. Hill said the tractor-trailer was headed to Baltimore at the time of the crash.

The truck’s driver, Vernelle Crudup of Wendell, N.C., sustained minor injuries and was taken to an area hospital.

Police are continuing to investigate.
