Seven-figure mansions in McLean and million-dollar condos in the District do sell, but based on monthly median sales prices, Falls Church remains the Washington area’s priciest housing market.
Listing service MRIS’s monthly RealEstate Business Intelligence report says the median price of a house that sold in Falls Church in September was $650,000, up almost 18 percent from a year ago.
Arlington still commands the second-highest prices, with a median sales price of $530,000 last month, up 15.2 percent from a year ago. Alexandria, Fairfax and the District are close behind.
Prince George’s County continues to see the biggest annual gains in prices, up 18.2 percent from September 2012, though at $201,000, the median price in Prince George’s County remains the lowest in the region.
Howard County was the only area county to see a year-over-year drop in prices last month, down just under 1 percent.
