Airline loses woman’s dog on flight to Canada

WASHINGTON – Despite what she says were explicit instructions not to remove her dog from his crate, Jutta Kulic says Air Canada somehow lost her Italian greyhound.

Kulic tells the CBS affiliate in Sacramento — where she had arrived for a dog show — that she secured the dog’s travel crate before leaving him with the airline.

“And I very clearly instructed them never ever to open the door and let the dog out of that crate, unless he’s in a completely enclosed room,” Kulic tells CBS Sacramento.

Unfortunately, after Larry’s flight was canceled and rescheduled, Air Canada workers decided to take the dog out for a walk, during which he ran away.

What is surprising is the response CBS received from Air Canada after inquiring about its pet policy. The company responded with the following note:

“I think I would just ignore, it is local news doing a story on a lost dog. Their entire government is shut down and about to default and this is how the US media spends its time.”

An Air Canada spokesman did follow up to tell the station they are investigating the dog’s escape.
