Trawick Prize Reveals Contest Finalists

Trawick Prize finalist, a sculpture of pencils and glue, photo via Bethesda Urban PartnershipThe Bethesda Urban Partnership on Thursday announced finalists and dates for its contemporary art contest, which it holds annually at the Gallery B art studio on Wisconsin Avenue.

The eight finalists will have their work on display in the studio from Sept. 4 to Sept. 28. The exhibit will be open Wednesday through Saturday from noon to 6 p.m.

BUP will announce the winners of the $10,000 Trawick Prize, named in honor of Bethesda philanthropist and enthusiast Carol Trawick, on Sept. 6.

The public opening reception for the exhibit is set for Friday, Sept. 13 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. in conjunction with the monthly Bethesda Art Walk.

The finalists are all artists from around the D.C.-Baltimore area, including one from nearby Colesville and three from D.C.:
