John Hopkins University students robbed on move-in day

WASHINGTON – Two armed robbers targeted a group of John Hopkins University students just off campus on the school’s move-in day Wednesday.

The robbers approached four women on North Charles Street at about 11:30 p.m. Wednesday and demanded their smartphones and money. The incident happened on the first day of John Hopkins’ two-day move-in for students.

The robbers may have targeted the students because of their phones, the CBS affiliate in Baltimore reports.

The robbers fled the scene in a vehicle. No one sustained injuries in the incident.

School officials sent an email to the student body about the robbery and they are advising students to avoid parts of Charles Street, especially at night. Officials suggest students take the university shuttle bus to get around at night.
