Group Of Companies Moving Into Downtown Bethesda Offices

6900 Wisconsin Ave.Bethesda-based Washington Property Company on Monday had some good news about the office market in Bethesda.

The company said it has leased about 9,000 square feet of office space so far this year in two of its downtown properties: 6900 Wisconsin Ave. above the U.S. Post Office and at 4719 Hampden Lane, known as the Bethesda Corner building.

New move-ins include GSA consulting firm EZGSA, Core International, The Real Estate Group and SR/A Interior Design.

Add that to 12 new companies in developer B.F. Saul’s renovated office building at 7700 Old Georgetown Rd. and two new tenants at Douglas Development Corporation’s 7979 Old Georgetown Rd., and signs are pointing to a very gradual reversal of the stale office market that hit Bethesda and much of the D.C. area in recent years.

Earlier this year, D.C.-based developer Akridge cut the ribbon on downtown Bethesda’s first new Class A office space since 2001. In November, County officials celebrated the groundbreaking for construction on a 220,000-square-foot Class A office building at 4500 East-West Highway, on the former site of a McDonald’s.

Both buildings are still looking for major tenants.
