Artists to show off glass making techniques at Glen Echo

Some of the glass work created at the Art Glass Center in Glen Echo ParkStudents and residents at the Art Glass Center in Glen Echo Park will put their works on display next month as part of the park’s August arts exhibition.

From Aug. 17 to Sept. 15, the kiln formed glass projects of 19 participants at the Glass Center will be in the Popcorn Gallery (7300 MacArthur Blvd., Glen Echo). The Center is unique for the Washington area, offering classes and studio space for students and professionals who do Venetian glass, beads, flameworking, painting on glass and other glass-inspired projects.

The artists will be available throughout the exhibition to talk about the projects and walk people through the techniques.

“We get so many questions about fused or kiln formed glass techniques, we decided to highlight the many ways of creating glassworks during the show,” said Jennifer Connell, an artist at the Center.

The Center also offers one-on-one consultations with resident artists. Reservations are required.

The show will run from noon to 6 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays with an opening reception set for 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 25.
