Cab driver killed in Adams Morgan, suspects in custody after shootout

WASHINGTON – Police have identified the cab driver shot to death in Adams Morgan and the suspects.

The cab driver is 57-year-old Solomon Okoroh of Lanham.

One the suspects is named Ercell Overton, age 32. He faces a murder charge.

Another person arrested was 24 year-old Joshua King, but he faces an unrelated charge.

NBC4 reports Okoroh is the father of five children, including Howard University basketball player Prince Okoroh.

A cab driver was fatally shot early Tuesday morning in Adams Morgan and two suspects are in custody, say D.C. police.

Officers responded at about 3:15 a.m. to the 2300 block of Ontario Road NW, where a taxi driver had been robbed and shot and two suspects fled on foot. A police chase followed and one of the suspects opened fire on the officers, who fired back.

At least one of the suspects broke into a home and was apprehended by police there. The second suspect was taken into custody a short time afterward.

Police have not identified the cab driver.
