Kitten season means a call for volunteer foster homes

WASHINGTON – Kitten season is here once again and a local animal shelter is looking for a few good foster parents.

Since kittens are more susceptible to getting sick, the Animal Welfare League of Arlington says it can’t keep young kittens in its shelter facility.

It’s looking for clean and safe foster homes to take young kittens or moms and litters until they’re old enough to be adopted. The committement is typically for one to eight weeks.

The group provides all supplies and a Foster Care Coordinator will train volunteers who are interested.

They are especially looking for people who can foster kittens who need to be fed every three to four hours.

Those who are interested should contact Sara at semery@awla.org or visit the group’s foster page on Facebook.
