Gesture chair designed for work in the 21st century (VIDEO)

WASHINGTON – Most office chairs are made for someone who sits in front of a computer all day. But a new one promises comfort for 21st-century technology.

The Gesture chair, made by Steelcase, is designed to improve posture and be more comfortable when using a smartphone or tablet.

The designers say they did a global posture study to see how the human body shifts when using tablets, smartphones and computers.

In the video below, James Ludwig, Steelcase vice president of global design and engineering, talks about how new devices have led to nine new postures and new back problems:

The chair is expected to go on sale this fall. There is no word yet on how much it will cost.
