Possible 14th victim groped in Fairfax County

WASHINGTON – A 43-year-old woman has become the possible 14th victim of a serial groper who has plagued Fairfax County in recent months.

Fairfax county police say the woman was walking in the 6000 block of Hibbling Avenue at about 5:45 p.m. Thursday when a man grabbed her from behind. Police say the suspect – described as being between 20 and 30 years old and wearing a black jacket and black pants – fled when the woman turned and yelled at him.

The incident was the second suspected attack by the serial groper Thursday. Police say a 23-year-old woman was grabbed while walking on Floyd Avenue near Erving Street in Franconia at about 9 a.m.

The suspect in that incident was described as a Hispanic man, about 5 feet 6 inches tall with a close-cut beard. He was wearing faded green pants, a green jacket and a black knit cap.

Police say a 49-year-old woman also was groped earlier this week in Fairfax County.

The most recent assaults come less than a month after an 11th victim reportedly was fondled near the intersection of Amherst and Cumberland avenues in Franconia.

This story has been modified to change the suspect’s described height in the second incident.
