Crime Report: Oct. 15 to Oct. 23

Police made two arrests related to thefts from vehicles in a popular county parking garage:

Multiple thefts from vehicles were reported in the parking garage at 4935 St. Elmo Avenue, Bethesda on Sunday, 10/21 at 1:30 a.m.

Arrested: Male, 23, from Washington, DC; Male, 22, from Kensington.

But an unspecified number of unsolved thefts from vehicles were reported in Chevy Chase Village, which like the rest of the Bethesda District has been hit hard by thefts this year.

Multiple thefts from vehicles occurred this week from vehicles along several streets in the Chevy Chase Village area, all but one occurring between Tuesday, 10/16 and Wednesday, 10/17.  Affected streets included: the 3900 and 4000 blocks of Oliver Street, 5500 block of Grove Street, 5400 block of Center Street and the unit block of Kirke Street.

A residential burglary occurred in the 4800 block of Battery Lane, Bethesda on Tuesday, 10/16 between 9:30 a.m. and 6:45 p.m.  Unforced entry; property taken.

A residential burglary occurred in the 4800 block of Battery Lane, Bethesda on Tuesday, 10/16 between 1:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m.  Unforced entry; property taken.

A residential burglary occurred in the 7100 block of Fairfax Road on Wednesday, 10/17, at 12:30 p.m.  Unknown means of entry; nothing taken.

A burglary occurred in the 2800 block of Terrace Drive, Chevy Chase on Thursday, 10/18 at approximately 12:10 a.m.  Property was taken from a property under construction.

Arrested: Male, age 33, from Riverdale; Male, age 31, from Washington, DC

A residential burglary occurred in the 11800 block of Old Georgetown Road, Bethesda on Thursday, 10/18 between 8:40 a.m. and 7:40 p.m.  Forced entry; property taken.

A residential burglary occurred in the 6800 block of Glenbrook Road on Saturday, 10/20 between 2:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m.  Unknown means of entry; property taken.

A theft occurred at Montgomery Mall, 7101 Democracy Boulevard, Bethesda on Saturday, 10/20 between 3:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m.  The victim was pick-pocketed.

Suspect: B/M, 40-55, 5’9”-5’10”, 200-220 lbs.

A sex assault occurred on the Capital Crescent Trail (between MacArthur Blvd & Massachusetts Ave) in Bethesda on Sunday, 10/21 at approximately 7:15 p.m.  A press release was issued regarding this incident.

A residential burglary occurred in the 6300 block of Windermere Circle, North Bethesda on Monday, 10/22.  Unforced entry; property taken.

An aggravated assault occurred in the 9800 block of Rockville Pike, Bethesda on Tuesday, 10/23 at approximately noon.  A press release was issued regarding this incident.
