Tree crashes into house, displaces two families

WASHINGTON – As winds whipped through the region, two families were displaced when a tree crashed through a home in Virginia.

Around 5 p.m. on Monday, the storm uprooted a tree that crashed through the roof of the house, located in the 3800 block of Dalebrooke Drive in Montclair. The tree went all the way through the living room to the basement.

Lisa Tignor, a neighbor, says a family with two children lives in the house.

“I don’t think it can be salvaged at all,” she says.

Tignor was stunned because the family had just left the living room moments before the tree slammed into it.

Jason Grant, spokesman for Prince William County, says a second family who live next door was also displaced. He says though the family had to be evacuated from the home, no one was hurt.
