School bus headed to Fallsmead Elementary struck

WASHINGTON – An 80-year-old Maryland man is facing charges after police say his car collided with a school bus on its way to Fallsmead Elementary School Friday morning in the Rockville area.

The crash occurred around 8:40 a.m. near the intersection of Wootton Parkway and Hurley Avenue.

A Montgomery County Public Schools spokeswoman says 37 students were on the bus at the time, and four were taken to a hospital as a precaution. They have since been released. WTOP previously reported that the bus driver was taken to the hospital with serious injuries, but schools spokeswoman Gboyinde Onijala says the bus driver was not injured.

Rockville police say the driver of the other vehicle – Ronald Eisler, of Potomac – was taken to the hospital with serious injuries. He has been charged with failing to control vehicle speed to avoid a collision and crossing the center line of the roadway.
