Montgomery Co. school bus, cyclist collide

WASHINGTON – A Poolseville school bus collided with a cyclist in Montgomery County Wednesday afternoon and the biker is left with serious injuries.

Montgomery County Fire reports the biker, a man in his 50s, was taken to a trauma center and remains hospitalized in critical condition. His name will be released after family is notified.

The bus driver was treated for minor injuries.

The bus carried 29 students from Poolesville High School, none of which were hurt though some were interviewed by crash investigators.

No one else on the bus was injured.

The accident took place on Route 28/Darnestown Road between Route 118 and Berryville Road around 2:30 p.m.

Darnestown Road was closed in both directions between Route 118 and Berryville Road but has reopened.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation, and anyone who saw it is asked to call the Police Department’s Collision Reconstruction Unit at 240-773- 6620.
