Fairfax Co. police make arrest in Alexandria homicide

WASHINGTON – Fairfax County police have arrested Manuel F. Garces, 30, in connection with the death of Mark Earl Ives.

Garces, who has been charged with murder, is in police custody.

ALEXANDRIA, Va. – Police are investigating an apparent homicide in the Alexandria area.

Fairfax County police say 30-year-old Mark Earl Ives of Alexandria, was found dead on the 5400 block of Broadmoor Street around 2 a.m.

Police say he was assaulted by an acquaintance and died as a result of the trauma to his upper body.

An autopsy will be performed to determine the cause of death.
