Crime Report: Boss Beats Employee With Bat

In this week’s Arlington County crime report, a man was allegedly beaten with a baseball bat after smashing his boss’ car window.

MALICIOUS WOUNDING, 09/20/12, 2000 block of S. Langley Street. At 11:11 pm on September 19, two intoxicated coworkers, one was a supervisor, were engaged in a conversation about work productivity at the supervisors girlfriends residence. The conversation became contentious and the employee walked outside and smashed the car window of the supervisor. In return, the supervisor struck the employee in the head with a baseball bat. The victim was transported to GW Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Carlos Guadalupe Lopez Lopez, 26, of Hyattsville, MD, was arrested and charged with malicious wounding. He is being held without bond.

MALICIOUS WOUNDING, 09/19/12, 4200 block of N. Fairfax Drive. At 6:12 am on September 19, a victim was approached by a mentally disturbed suspect who stated “I will kill you,” while pulling a pen out of his pocket and attempted to stab the victim repeatedly. The victim and suspect began fighting and both sustained minor injuries. Zachary Thomas, 23, of no fixed address, was arrested and charged with malicious wounding. He is being held without bond.

MALICIOUS WOUNDING, 09/23/12, 1600 block of N. George Mason Drive. At 8:30 am on September 23, a victim went to Virginia Hospital Center after being stabbed at a large party at the Doubletree Hotel. A suspect has been identified and the investigation continues.

ATTEMPTED MALICIOUS WOUNDING 09/23/12, 800 block of S. Frederick Street. At 2:21 pm on September 23, the suspect attempted to stab the victim with a knife. Martir Alvarez-Yanez, 48, of Riverdale, MD, was arrested and charged with malicious wounding. He is being held without bond.

ROBBERY, 09/25/12, 4100 block of Four Mile Run Drive. At 2:54 pm on September 25, a known suspect to a victim came to his place of employment to fight. The victim was pushed to the ground, kicked in the chest and was robbed of his cell phone. The suspect fled the scene on foot and was apprehended by police a short time later. Sorrell Tyree Carter, 33, of Alexandria, VA, was arrested and charged with robbery. He was held without bond.

BURGLARY, 09/23/12, 2900 block of S. Woodstock Street. Between 2:30 pm on September 22 and 7:49 pm on September 23, the victim’s home was broken into and prescription drugs were taken. There is no suspect information.

BURGLARY, 09/23/12, 400 block of S. 12 Street. Between 5:00 pm on September 22 and 2:57 pm on September 23, the victim’s home was broken into and jewelry was taken. There is no suspect information.

ATTEMPTED BURGLARY 09/22/12, 1500 block of Key Boulevard. At 5:30 am on September 22, an unknown suspect(s) attempted to open the victim’s sliding glass door. There is no suspect(s) information.

ATTEMPTED BURGLARY, 09/24/12, 1200 block of S. Bell Street. Between 5 pm on September 21 and 6 am on September 24, an unknown suspect(s) attempted to break into a 12th floor office. The drywall and lock were damaged during the attempted break-in. There is no suspect(s) description.
