Report: Facebook may soon let users edit status updates

WASHINGTON – A long-awaited change may soon be coming to Facebook — the ability to edit status updates.

The Los Angeles Times reports that an official with the social network says the ability to edit your Facebook status may be available soon.

In a social media session at a journalism conference in Las vegas, the official inferred that editing status updates is coming next — now that Facebook users can edit comments and photo captions.

Now, users can only delete a status update and repost with the changes made.

“I can tell you that users have asked for [the ability to edit statuses] a lot, and a lot of times that’s how we develop things,” Vadim Lavrusik, Facebook’s journalist/program manager, tells the Times.

Facebook has not respond to the newspaper’s request for comment.
