Man shot by Montgomery County police identified

WASHINGTON – The man shot and killed by police Wednesday at the Sandy Spring Urban Barbque has now been identified.

Montgomery County Police say two officers fired at 63-year-old Fritz Otto Naecker when he wouldn’t drop the gun in his hand.

Naecker died at the hospital, according to police.

One of the officers, Sergeant James Rudnick, is a 17-year veteran. The other officer involved in the incident, Officer Matthew Wiedner, has been with the department since 2007.
