Law Enforcement Torch Run comes to Arlington Thursday

ARLINGTON, Va. – You may not have a chance to see this year’s Olympic Torch relay, but you will be able to check out the torch relay for Special Olympics Virginia.

Each summer, law enforcement officials carry the “Flame of Hope” more than 1,900 miles across the Virginia on its way to Richmond.

The last leg of the Virginia Law Enforcement Torch Run starts Thursday in Arlington.

More than 2,000 law enforcement officers from over 300 agencies across the state will participate in the eight-day relay.

It starts Thursday morning at 9:30 a.m. at the Iwo Jima Memorial at Arlington National Cemetery.

The Special Olympics Virginia Summer games officially begin Friday at 7 p.m. in Richmond.
