Texas family celebrates pig’s big court win

WASHINGTON – A 70-pound pot-bellied pig had his day in court Tuesday when he was officially declared a pet, not livestock, by a Texas judge.

There were tears, hugs and even the promise of strawberry treats inside the courtroom, according to KSDK.com.

It has been nearly a year since the Sardo family waged war on their homeowners’ association over Wilbur. The organization tried to ban him because he was considered to be livestock, which is not permitted inside the Spring, Texas neighborhood.

The Sardos, who think of Wilbur as a member of the family, went to court and argued for their right to keep the Vietnamese pig.
