WASHINGTON — It’s easier than you think to show your support for our troops this Veterans Day weekend — especially if you like ketchup on your burger and fries.
Heinz Ketchup has teamed up with the Wounded Warriors Project and the USO to create an easy way to donate money and say thanks to America’s warriors when you go out to eat.
Adam Silva, chief development officer with the Wounded Warrior Project, says special ketchup bottles will be on the tables of local restaurants.
“On the back of that ketchup bottle, there’s a quick response QR code. You get your smartphone out and you scan that QR code and it takes you to a landing page. From that landing page, you can either send a thank you note to an active duty service member, or you can actually ‘like’ the Heinz Ketchup Facebook page.”
For each ‘like’ and thank you note, Heinz will donate 57 cents to Wounded Warriors, a non-profit that works to help servicemen who have been wounded in war.
The ketchup bottles will be easy to recognize, special labels were made that say, “Our Turn to Serve, support our veterans” on the front.
If you’d like to donate and don’t have Heinz ketchup bottle, just head to the company’s Facebook page.
The ketchup company will donate up to $200,000 to the project.
