Speed limit increase approved on stretch of Battlefield Parkway

LEESBURG, Va. – The Leesburg Town Council has approved a speed limit increase on an approximately mile-long stretch of Battlefield Parkway.

The speed limit will be raised from 35 to 40 mph on the parkway between Kincaid Boulevard and Route 7.

The council approved the change in a 4 to 3 vote Tuesday night.

The council also voted down plans to boost the speed limit on a stretch of the parkway between Sycolin Road and the Dulles Greenway.

A new Virginia law lets local governments that control their own roads set their own speed limits.
