Germantown shooting kills 1, wounds 3

WASHINGTON — Two men and two women were shot inside a Germantown townhouse early Saturday morning, leaving one person dead.

Montgomery County police said they received a call just before 1 a.m. about a shooting in the 12800 block of Kitchen House Way, which is near Great Seneca Creek Elementary School.

Four people were taken to a hospital, where one of the men later died. The other three victims suffered injuries that were not life threatening.

Police identified the man killed as Amaru Santos Johnson, 19, of the 12100 block of Birdseye Terrace in Germantown.

“Investigators have been working nonstop over the weekend trying to determine why this occurred and the suspect or suspects involved,” said Captain Paul Starks, spokesperson for the Montgomery County police.

“First responders located three people that had been shot with non-life threatening injuries and also another individual, a 19-year-old male with life threatening injuries.  He was transported to a hospital where he later died.”

Montgomery County Fire and Rescue said a fifth person was taken to a hospital for a fall. The circumstances of the fall and the extent of the victim’s injuries are unclear.

Police said they need the public’s help.
