Man’s death after assault being investigated as homicide

WASHINGTON — An assault that led to a man’s death earlier this month is being investigated as a homicide, Montgomery County police announced Thursday.

On June 12, Montgomery County Fire & Rescue responded to a report of an assault in the 10300 block of Ridgeline Drive in Montgomery Village. Responding officers found 60-year-old Bradley Colmes with injuries to his head and face.

Emergency crews transported Colmes to an area hospital where he died June 17. The Medical Examiner has ruled the death a homicide.

Police say their investigation indicates that Colmes left his home in the area and was assaulted by a black man.

Detectives are asking anyone who may have witnessed the assault or has information about the suspect to call them at 240-773-5070.
