Man accused of killing Rockville couple back in Montgomery County

WASHINGTON — The man accused of robbing and murdering a Rockville couple in their home in May has been extradited and is currently being held in Mountgomery County, according to police on Saturday. 

Detectives of the Major Crimes Division, Homicide Section and the Fugitive Section flew to Alaska this week to transport Scott Tomaszewski to Montgomery County.  They arrived back in the Washington, D.C. area at approximately 10:00 p.m. Friday night.

Tomaszewski was transported to the Montgomery County Central Processing Unit where he was charged with 1st degree murder and burglary relating to the deaths of Richard and Julianne Vilardo. He is being held without bond.

He is scheduled for bond review on Monday, June 1 at 1:00 p.m. in Rockville.

Tomaszewski was arrested over the weekend while vacationing with his parents.

The bodies of Richard, 65, and Julianne Vilardo, 67, were found on Mother’s Day at their Rockville home.
