Police call off manhunt in Upper Marlboro

WASHINGTON – Police called off a massive manhunt in Prince George’s County late Sunday night after searching for a person who stole a car in Calvert County and led officers on a high-speed chase down Route 4 .

Calvert County police received a call around 8:30 p.m. Sunday night after a Prince Frederick man left his car warming up in his driveway and returned to find it gone.

Police then spotted the reported stolen 2012 Dodge Charger near Calvert Memorial hospital. When officers tried to stop it, the driver sped away.

Police followed the car all the way to Upper Marlboro where the driver crashed into a tree near the ramp to downtown and ran into the woods.

The search was called off just before midnight and there is no word yet on what the suspect looks like.
