A center of high pressure will continue to build in during the early morning hours, and clouds will clear out and winds will slowly diminish before sunrise. The day will start with a hard freeze throughout the area. However, at least the wind chill will be gone.
High pressure will settle directly overhead for tomorrow, the first full day of winter. However, considering the sun angle will be the lowest in the sky that it gets, we won’t be able to rebound much from the very cold morning lows, and temperatures will max out a good ten to fifteen degrees below average. There will be nothing affecting the Eagles vs. Commanders game, only a light breeze.
A return to more southerly flow on Monday will bring in some high level clouds but it will still be cold. Temperatures will be a bit milder on Tuesday, but a quick moving front will bring some strong breezes and a brief shower or snow or rain west of the mountains. It looks dry, but blustery for Midnight services, followed by a brisk and cold, but dry Christmas Wednesday.
SATURDAY EVENING:
Mostly to partly cloudy. Blustery and cold. Scattered flurries and snow showers, especially in the NW suburbs.

MONDAY:

CHRISTMAS DAY WEDNESDAY:
