OVERNIGHT: Mostly cloudy to cloudy
Lows: 22-29
Winds: North 5 mph
Snow showers will develop around 2 a.m. southwest of D.C. near Luray, Culpeper and Fredericksburg, Virginia. Snow will move to D.C. by 4 a.m. A very cold night is ahead with low temperatures well below freezing. Expect added clouds ahead of our next weather maker that may block the view of the full “cold moon.”
FRIDAY: WINTER ALERT (morning), COLD ALERT (for the day), and cloudy with morning snow showers (most done falling by noon)
Highs: 30-35
Winds: Southeast 5-10 mph
The coldest air of the season arrives Friday with many neighborhoods not getting above freezing! Wind chill temperatures will hold around the lower to mid-20s all day. A few snow showers will whiten the ground during the morning and early afternoon hours could see some light freezing rain. Snowfall amounts: Expect a light dusting just north of D.C., 1 inch possible in D.C. and around 2 inches of snowfall now in the forecast from Culpeper, Virginia, to Waldorf, Maryland. Higher totals may be recorded within any heavier banding. Untreated roads will become slick during the morning rush and any slush left on roads during the evening will freeze.
SATURDAY: Partly sunny
Highs: 41-45
Winds: Southwest 5 mph
Morning temperatures in the 20s will give way to a cold afternoon with highs, remaining below average, on either side of 40 degrees. Dry weather is expected. We hope you’ll consider joining the 7News family for our annual Toys for Tots drive at the Iwo Jima War Memorial in Arlington from 8 a.m. until 2 p.m.
SUNDAY: Mostly cloudy
Highs: 41-46
Winds: South 5 mph
Mostly cloudy skies but looking dry.
