Metro Police: Rider pulled emergency switch, leading to delays

WASHINGTON — Metro riders experienced delays Tuesday evening after a series of problems.

First, a disabled train slowed the Orange-Blue-Silver line.

Then, around 5 p.m., Metro Police say a man pulled the emergency door release just as his train was leaving L’Enfant Plaza. The man, who was with a child, then exited the train.

That held trains back for 15 minutes, and was followed by a signal issue at L’Enfant Plaza, backing up Green and Yellow line trains for an additional hour.

Metro Police say no one was hurt when the emergency door release was pulled.
