Video: Hurricane Maria’s destructive Caribbean path

WASHINGTON – As Hurricane Maria made landfall early Wednesday in Puerto Rico, video shows damage on other islands in the storm’s path.

Hurricane Maria moved over Dominica late Monday, leaving behind widespread destruction. Aerial footage shows extensive debris and collapsed buildings on the island.

On the French Caribbean island of Guadeloupe, strong wind and rain was captured on camera on Tuesday. About 40 percent of the island — 80,000 homes — were without power and flooding was reported in several communities. Videos shared online show flooding at the airport and in the streets.

In Puerto Rico on Wednesday, people reported doors flying off hinges and metal roofs being blown away.
