Rare white lion makes its debut

WASHINGTON — A rare white lion has been introduced to the public for the first time in Brazil at the Beto Carrero zoo in the coastal town of Penha.

Seven-month-old Clara feeds three hours a day. Each meal includes 4.6 pounds of meat.

In Portuguese, Clara means “light.”

Right now, the lion is 55 pounds and will grow to be four times that size.
