Crowd expected for Md. paramedic’s funeral

WASHINGTON – A large crowd is expected Sunday at Marriotts Ridge High School in Howard County for a funeral for beloved paramedic Erik Steciak.

Steciak, 29, was killed while responding to a car accident off Patterson Mill Road in  Bel Air Jan 6.

He was a volunteer captain at the West Friendship Volunteer Fire Department, and a paid paramedic at the Bel Air Volunteer Fire Department.

Separate viewings were held Saturday at station houses for both companies.

A community-wide outpouring is expected Sunday, with some related road closures along Routes 32, 99 and 144 expected. The service is at 1 p.m.

 

The event will be broadcast live online.
