Shed turkey pounds along the ‘Lincoln’ movie trail

Jason Fraley, WTOP film critic

WASHINGTON – Looking for a way to give thanks and shed those turkey pounds?

Try walking in the footsteps of “Lincoln.”

Director Steven Spielberg’s latest film was shot over 53 days in Virginia.

Now, you can retrace the steps of the cast and crew with The Lincoln Movie Trail.

Start in Petersburg, where the Union Train Station housed the hair, make-up and wardrobe departments, and the Farmer’s Market, which stood in for General Grant’s headquarters.

Making your way up to Richmond, check out the Maymont estate, which staged the surrender at Appomattox.

Visit the Virginia State Capitol, where the House of Delegates was transformed into the U.S. House chamber.

See where Joseph Gordon-Levvit watched a local band at The Camel, and Daniel Day-Lewis dined in full make-up at Arcadia Restaurant.

Finally, drive up to Gettysburg, Pa., where Spielberg spoke earlier this week to mark the 149th anniversary of Lincoln’s Gettysburg Address:
