Police: Man robs elderly woman in Fairfax Co.

WASHINGTON — Police are asking for the public’s help in identifying and locating a man they say assaulted an 89-year-old woman before robbing her.

Fairfax County police say the incident occurred in the 6600 block of Loisdale Road in Springfield around 10:15 a.m. Friday.

According to police, the woman had just gotten into her vehicle when she was approached by the suspect. He allegedly assaulted her, grabbed her purse and fled.

The woman sustained nonlife-threatening injuries.

The suspect was described as 5-foot-8 to 5-foot-10 black man, approximately 20 to 30 years old with a muscular build. He had short black hair and was clean-shaven.

The suspect’s vehicle (pictured right) was described as a 2008 to 2012 Nissan Altima with a possible partial license plate of “2057.”
