Southeast man dead after scooter crash on Benning Road

WASHINGTON — A local man is dead after he lost control of the scooter he rode and hit a concrete median on Benning Road in Northeast.

Around 1:45 a.m. Sunday, Kwasi Stephon Gray drove a blue 2012 Tao Tao scooter westbound when he collided with the concrete median that separates the eastbound and westbound lanes along the 2800 block of Benning Road.

Once Gray hit the median, he lost control of the scooter and fell to the ground. Gray was taken to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. He was 34 and lived in Southeast.

Before the accident, Gray was seen with two other scooter riders, according to D.C. police.
