WASHINGTON — Leaders from D.C., Maryland and Virginia are talking about their plans for the region’s economy at a forum on Wednesday.

D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser, Virginia Gov. Terry McAuliffe and U.S. Sen. Ben Cardin, D-Maryland, are speaking at the Annual Capital Region Business Forum at the MGM National Harbor. The event is underway.

The Greater Washington Board of Trade, a co-sponsor of the event along with the Northern Virginia and Prince George’s County chambers of commerce, said in a statement that the three leaders will “discuss their plans to work cooperatively to bolster the regional economy in an ever-competitive global marketplace.”

Topics will include:

  • Infrastructure and transportation initiatives,
  • Outlook of federal presence and implications of change,
  • Identifying ways to apply smart cities regionally,
  • Collaborative opportunities for economic development and regional cooperation, and more.
